In a country where discussions about how to cope with 4 differents national languages are on weekly agenda at the parliament, Swissinfo found a way to avoid such dilemma in a series of 15 seconds funny ads currently broadcasted on TV5 channel.
p.s this post is the 1st one with embedded video on this site. Thanks to Viper007bond and their great plugin.

After walking for days in Telecom Word 2006 exhibition, I spent the weekend in Hong Kong to discover the city and its landmarks.
During the day I went to "The Peak" using the swiss made funicular called "Peak Tram". Up there you get a wonderful 360°C view including Hong Kong central district, Soho, Victoria Harbour as well as Kowloon.
Later on, back to "Des Voeux Rd" again to ride the 800 meters World longest escalator which link Central Market to the upper part of the city and Hong Kong's mosque. A walk down through the Botanical & Zoological garden, passing by the Governor House and back to Central Station and the famous HSBC building.
In the evening I took the ferry and cross Victoria's harbour to Kowloon to get an amazing view of the whole city and enjoyed the huge permanent light show when at 20h all buildings of both sides of the Harbour erupt in coloured lights, laser beams and searchlights.

- Company type : 25% Mobile operators
- Best stand (my own opinion) : Samsung

On December the 6th, The Swiss and Geneva authorities hosted a cocktail party in the hotel Meridien Cyberport to celebrate the launch of ITU Telecom World 2009 and introduce the Telecom participants to Geneva Switzerland.
A large array of Swiss products were proposed to guests, including "Raclette", Swiss cheese, dried meat and of course, Swiss chocolate.
During the event the traditional "Marmite de l'Escalade", celebrating the defeat of the surprise attack by troops sent by Charles Emmanuel I, Duke of Savoy during the night of 11–12 December 1602, was smashed by Dr Hamadoun Touré, ITU Secretary-General elect and Mr Robert Hensler State Chancellor of Geneva.

- Triple Play or all 3 SoHo services over IP (internet, telephone, TV)
- WiMax
Mobility

- Added-value services for mobile users.
Satellites
- 2 new terminals for Thuraya
- Inmarsat invests on ACeS

Just landed in Hong Kong to visit Telecom World 2006. In the main hall, Telecom 2006 organization staff proposes a transport package for the whole week.
Good news !! but….
- Purchase of the transport card "Telecom Connect" can only be made online. Telecom staff kindly indicates me were I could find an Internet cafe in case I wouldn't carry a computer with wireless card. If you're "Wi-Fi enabled", it's easy as HKIA & PCCW provide free Wi-Fi access at the airport. I find a place to seat down, connect to Internet and try to access the url printed on the flyer given by Telecom staff.
- The printer url is www.itu/world2006, result: page not found as ITU website is www.itu.int. Donc correction and 40 seconds (sic!) later the ITU Telecom frontpage is displayed.
I find my way, to purchase this famous "Telecom Connect" card and a new surprise is waiting for me
- A welcome message from the online payment site "paydollar.com" "Sorry! you cannot process with this application because of it does not support your browser type…."
Super! am I the only one using Firefox in Hong Kong ?
So back to start with IExplorer (hope it supports IE7) and again 40 secs for the frontpage etc.. Finally, online purchase, confirmation by email etc…as usual. I can now go to the Telecom 2006 Redemption counter where guess what….
- I'm asked to provide the printed receipt to get the card… as I'm not the only one not having the famous receipt, we are asked to fill up a form, to sign it, as well as the delivery log and after a last online check I finally got the Telecom Connect pass !!!
Time elapsed : 45 mins !
Going to MRT counter and buying the standard transport card must take at least 3 mins if you pay cash and 4:30 with a credit card.
In resume, not having the possibility to purchase directly Telecom Connect card at the Telecom counters is not exactely a good idea. Regarding the time needed to display Telecom 2006 fontpage, I hold my comments, as now with a broadband connection, it only takes 20 secs !

US commerce secretary Carlos Gutierrez is banning the export of Segways, iPods, and other luxury goods to North Korea in response to Kim Jong Il 's apparent nuclear test last month.
The action is line with UN Security Council Resolution 1718 imposing sanctions on North Korea. The US is banning exports of luxury goods to the country.
Oooohhhhh it's a very strong and scary threat no ? Who will check Kim at the border when back from shopping in China or Russia, US Customs ?

Siem Reap is the gateway to access Angkor temples. This small colonial city, still with an Old French Quarter and a chinese-style architecture or now crowded by tourists coming from all over the world.
On the near by Tonle Sap lake leaves an important vietnamese fishermen community who arrived during the civil war in Cambodia.
