Few years ago, it was Internet over Telephone network but the situation is shifting and we have now, with Internet broadband access, Telephone over the Internet.
With the so called "unify messaging system" all type of communication can reach your email inbox while travelling but in some situation, sending a fax (yes it still exists) while on the move may not be so easy than it seems and even very costly (money and time).
This week, German company PamConsult launched a beta version of PamFax, a Skype Extra (add-ons), which makes possible faxing a document from any Internet broadband connected computer (with Skype software installed and activated).
The process is rather simple :
- Select the document to be sent
- Enter recipient(s) fax number
- Optionally, select a cover page
- Select notification methods : Skype Chat, SMS (0.26 USD) an/or email.
- Pay the fax using Sky Credits
- Optionally, preview it
PamFax comes with its own website where you can configure your default settings, consult logs and check current sending rates
There are 7 different, per page, rates which are currently the following:
Technical requirments:
- Windows 2000 SP4, XP or Vista (32 or 64 bit)
- Internet Explorer 6 or better
- Latest Skype (min. Skype 3.0)
- Installed Skype Plugin Manager
During the beta phase, PamFax is only available to Skype users outside Canada and USA
Every user gets 1 test fax in zone 1 (0.23 USD) for free.

At 2:56 UTC on July 21st 1969, six hours after landing (with less than 30 seconds of fuel remaining), Apollo 11 commander Neil Armstrong made his descent to the Moon's surface and spoke his famous line "That's one small step for (a) man, one giant leap for mankind" (audio link) . He was shortly joined by “Buzz” Aldrin saying, "Beautiful. Beautiful. Magnificent desolation". Neil A. Armstrong took the “Small Step” into our greater future when he stepped off the Lunar Module, named “Eagle,” onto the surface of the Moon, from which he could look up and see Earth in the heavens as no one had done before him.
The two astronauts spent 21 hours on the lunar surface and returned 46 pounds of lunar rocks. After their historic walks on the Moon, they successfully docked with the Command Module “Columbia,” in which Michael Collins was patiently orbiting the cold but no longer lifeless Moon"

Since few days now, iMinR is tracking what's going on this website.
This new service of “measurement of personalized audience” as its creator, Stéphane Guérin, indicates it on his Internet site. The iMinR statistics service makes possible to discover more about visitors of a site in general and, as from now on, this one in particular.
Among statistics provided on the free account version of iMinR we can find :
- Visitors (IP address)
- Visits (per hour, per day,)
- Pages viewed (url, title)Pages vues (url & titre)
- Geographical information (Country, Region, City)
- Web Origin (domain and url)
- Search Engine
- Query String
- Keywords
- Incoming and Outgoing points
- Global duration of the visit
- Time duration per page
- Click stream
- Frequent paths
- Client configuration(browser, operating system, resolution, language, etc..)
About the installation, well it's definitively too easy. You either have to add the provided line of code in your footer's page (also available for secured pages) or, if you are using Wordpress, to install, activate and configure the iMinr plugin and that's it.
No update, no maintenance and training required. iMinR is adapted to sites using AJAX and the 100% javascript invisible (free account users are requested to add iMinR logo on their web site) marker works with any HTML pages (PHP, ASP, etc..).
Real time reports can be personalized according your needs and are accessible either on a web page; using a javascript function or simply from the iMinR web site.
Today the beta 2 version has been released but so far the interface is exclusively available in French. I have not asked, but the English version should follow no ?
