wp231.JPGThe night will be short but Nomadcom.net is know running on the latest version of WordPress.

The installation was straight forward and one of the new WP feature which automatically check if an update of installed plugins is available is definitively quite an improvement.

I got slight problems when during activation of Automattic's Widget plugin (not needed anymore… RTFMF !) and, as usual, with the Tags' cloud.

There are however some minor issues with incompatible plugins but updates should be available shortly.

WordPress version 2.3.1 is available here

I just discovered on technogad the creation of South-Korean young designer JooYoun Paek: The Pillowig, a so called "portable sculpture" made in 2004…

pillow_wig.jpg

…but Pillowig has a sense of "deja vu"…

27th of May 1931, swiss physicist, aeronaut, balloonist, hydronaut August Piccard and his assistant Paul Kipfer on board of an atmospheric pressurized balloon took off and reached a record altitude of 15,785 m (51,775 ft).

In order to protect their heads from a potential harsh landing they were wearing an earlier version of the Pillowig

Gentlemen, Chapeau !

iminrlogo.gifSince few days now, iMinR is tracking what's going on this website.

This new service of “measurement of personalized audience” as its creator, Stéphane Guérin, indicates it on his Internet site. The iMinR statistics service makes possible to discover more about visitors of a site in general and, as from now on, this one in particular.

Among statistics provided on the free account version of iMinR we can find :

  • Visitors (IP address)
  • Visits (per hour, per day,)
  • Pages viewed (url, title)Pages vues (url & titre)
  • Geographical information (Country, Region, City)
  • Web Origin (domain and url)
  • Search Engine
  • Query String
  • Keywords
  • Incoming and Outgoing points
  • Global duration of the visit
  • Time duration per page
  • Click stream
  • Frequent paths
  • Client configuration(browser, operating system, resolution, language, etc..)

About the installation, well it's definitively too easy. You either have to add the provided line of code in your footer's page (also available for secured pages) or, if you are using WordPress, to install, activate and configure the iMinr plugin and that's it.

No update, no maintenance and training required. iMinR is adapted to sites using AJAX and the 100% javascript invisible (free account users are requested to add iMinR logo on their web site) marker works with any HTML pages (PHP, ASP, etc..).

Real time reports can be personalized according your needs and are accessible either on a web page;  using a javascript function or simply from the iMinR web site.

Today the beta 2 version has been released but so far the interface is exclusively available in French. I have not asked, but the English version should follow no ?

To know more about, check the demonstration page.

iphone_optimized.pngContentRobot has released earlier last week a WordPress plugin (requires WP 2.2.1) that would allow iPhone visitors to optimally view WordPress blogs. The iWPhone plugin comes with its own theme which will automatically reformats blog’s content for optimized viewing on Apple’s iPhone.

Feature List

  • Formats your blog content for optimized viewing on the iPhone.
  • Automatically detects the iPhone’s Safari browser and only displays the custom theme to iPhone visitors, other visitors get your standard theme.
  • Simple iPhone-like theme with common interface elements that compliments the iPhone’s internal applications.
  • Images larger then 300 pixels wide are automatically scaled down to fit the iPhone optimized width.

If you don't own an iPhone, you can review the reformated site using a small application called iPhoney but so far you need to have Mac OS X 10.4.7 (or later) and Safari installed on it as Windows version of iPhoney is not available yet.

Note: As I don't have a MAC nor an iPhone, feedback from iPhone owners about presentation my site would be highly appreciated

aerosol.JPGI found yesterday an ad about another product made to shield your face (or at least the face of these "beautiful people")… this make me laugh as I'm not sure how they will convinced large amount of users to apply them.

  • The first spray is the"expertise 3P" made by Clarins which protects skin from the ageing effects of Artificial Electromagnetic Waves (sic!). The Magnetic Defense Complex (Rhodiola Rosea + Thermus Thermophillus) – Reinforces skin's resistance to the harmful effects of Artificial Electromagnetic Waves.

Apparently it's a large frequency spectrum product as they do not precise the frequency range which is concerned but it works according Clarins on artificial radio waves…but will certainly not refrain your cellphone to warm your brain cells…as the lotion seems to be done for facial usage only.

  • The second spray intends to guarantee your privacy while facing photographer. Blur anti-photography spray and its highly reflective nanoparticles reflect the flashbulbs of peeping and stalking photographers. They blind camera sensors and whiten part of the image.

The description speaks for itself, but I wonder if both can be used together as our friends "The Stars" may become totally addicted to both lotions.

Tinfoil.jpgIf not, they may use an older product, widely available and invented more thatAluminumfoil.jpg Century ago which surely protect from both paparazzi and electromagnetic waves. The Aluminium foil Cool

I remember the first self-service petrol stations selling fuel only, then came air-pressure and vaccum cleaner services, carwash and later the very popular so called "convenience stores" but customers always want more…

In Badalona (Barcelona suburb) the petrol station provides another service: The Pet's Wash Wink

RIMG0026.jpg

For 4 euros, your get a 4 step washing service dedicated to your pet :RIMG0027.jpg

  • Shampoo
  • Rinsing
  • Bug's protection
  • Drying

If this service is certainly very useful for Pet's owners living in a flat as it saves them from turning their bathroom into a battle field each time they have to bath their loved animal, I really wonder what will be the next "completely essential" service that every petrol station must offer to its customers.

Do you know other "essential" services available in petrol stations ?

In a country where discussions about how to cope with 4 differents national languages are on weekly agenda at the parliament, Swissinfo found a way to avoid such dilemma in a series of 15 seconds funny ads currently broadcasted on TV5 channel.

nobag.jpgAt least Triumph Japan gives them a good opportunity with their "No! Shopping Bra".

Though it was a joke but apparently japanese throw away 10 millions plastic bags every year, so came the idea of a 2-in-1 bra. Just can't really imagine a woman removing her bra at the supermarket, strating filling it with her shopping just because she does not want to use plastic bags anymore. Surprised

When the bra is being worn, the “shopping bag” portions are folded away inside the bra cups, where they serve as extra padding. The bra quickly converts to a shopping bag by removing the bag portions from the cups and connecting the hooks on the bra’s underwire. The lace cups serve as decoration along with the shoulder straps, which are disconnected and tied to the top of the bag as ribbons.

The perfect timing to welcome Rod on this website Wink

FREE BEER is a beer which is free in the sense of freedom, not in the sense of free beer. The project, originally conceived by Copenhagen-based artist collective Superflex and students at the Copenhagen IT University, applies modern free software / open source methods to a traditional real-world product – namely the alcoholic beverage loved and enjoyed globally, and commonly known as beer.

This beer is based on classic ale brewing traditions, but with addded Guaraná for a natural energy boost. The recipe and branding elements are published under a Creative Commons license, which means that anyone can use the recipe to brew their own beer or create a derivative of the recipe.
